Terrance R. McClain, PhD

Terrance R. McClain is currently the Minister of the University Church of Christ, Cleveland, Ohio.  He has been involved in full-time ministry for more than thirty-eight years, having served churches of Christ in Michigan, Georgia and Florida.   He has preached the gospel of Christ nationally in gospel meetings, revivals, lectureships, youth conferences, workshops and seminars, and has preached internationally in Trinidad, West Indies, St. Croix, Virgin Islands and Nigeria, West Africa. He began serving as the Interim Minister here at the University church of Christ, Cleveland, Ohio, in September 28, 2014, commuting every week from Pontiac, Michigan, until he and his wife relocated to the area in August of this year (2016).

Brother McClain has authored the book, “Build Your Own Fire,” published in 2003, has been a contributing author for the Bible school curriculum, Blueprints, published by 21st Century Christian, and a contributing author to The Open Bible—The Oracles of God Special Edition published in 2004 by Thomas Nelson Publishers.

Brother McClain has an Associate of Arts degree in Bible, a Bachelor of Science degree in Counseling/Psychology, a Master of Arts degree in Counseling, completed the Advanced Master’s Professional Specialization in Child and Adolescent Counseling, and a Ph.D. in Education, with a major in Counselor Education and Supervision from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.  As a Doctoral Candidate, he wrote his dissertation and taught Master’s level classes as a Visiting Professor in the Counseling Department at Oakland University for three years. From fall semester 2015 through summer semester 2016, Dr. McClain was a Special Instructor, Education in the Counseling Department of the School of Education and Human Services at Oakland University, and served as the Coordinator of the School Counseling Program for the 2014 and 2015 academic years.  He is a contributing author to the textbook, Workforce Diversity: Current Issues and Case Studies (2014), co-authoring the chapter on Ethnicity, C. Scott and M. Byrd, editors.

He holds Michigan license as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and a School Guidance Counselor License, Guidance & Counseling (NT) K-12 (SCL).  In addition, brother McClain holds membership in numerous national and state professional counseling and counselor educator organizations, and has been the keynote speaker and presenter at various local, regional and national conferences. Various honors and awards have been conferred upon Dr. McClain, from educational institutions, professional counseling and honor associations, and from the churches and communities where he has served. He currently is an Adjunct Instructor at John Carroll University in the Counseling Department.

Brother McClain is married to his lovely wife, Linda, since December 18, 2015, and they both eagerly look forward to how God is going to use them as they keep living in His grip, for His glory, and by His grace! Most importantly, he is motivated by the thought that “God loves you, Jesus died for you, I love you, and I am your servant for Jesus’ sake!”
